Job Details
This is a professional position with the responsibilities of assisting the Activity Director to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operations of the Activities Department in accordance with State and Federal regulations as well as being an active staff member. Assist staff and families in recognizing and understanding the resident’s activity needs and work in conjunction with other clinical specialties to achieve such ends. Assumes operational responsibility of the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
1.        Develop a primary and comprehensive assessment of activity needs, for each resident.
2.        Plan resident programs lead resident groups in ongoing structured programs that meet individual needs.
3.        Participate in quality assurance program.
4.        Organize and participate in special events such as resident parties and family night.
5.        Assist with mentoring new staff. Provides training and oversite of Activity Department mentors.
6.        Train new employees to the department functions.
7.        Conduct individualized visits with residents daily.
8.        Prepare outing notices for dietary and nursing department, organize outings and drive residents on outings. Take bus training as required.
9.        Complete the feeding course so incumbent can assist at meal times and activities that require food.
10.        Maintain resident safety, complete necessary daily census reports and monthly filing responsibilities.
11.        Run the resident store.
12.        Deliver resident mail, newspapers, newsletters, reading mail to residents as needed.
13.        Attend morning meeting or any other necessary meetings as assigned.
14.        Create a calendar of events that meets resident needs.
15.        Assist in typing minutes as needed
16.      Attend Risk Meetings.
17.      Attend care plan meetings.
18.         Provides coaching and counseling of Activity staff. May recommend termination if warranted.
19.        Completes employee evaluations as assigned
